Pathway Liver Support and Detox

Spread the love

The holidays are around the corner, which means parties, which also means alcohol, rich and fatty foods and basically…overindulgence. The liver can definitely take a beating during this time. Consider providing this vital organ a bit of support with Pathway Liver Support and Detox. This comprehensive liver support formula contains NAC, milk thistle, curcumin and artichoke to help support healthy liver function as well as vitamin B12, folic acid and choline to aid in detoxification.

The liver is the body’s main organ of detoxification. Detoxification in the liver occurs in two phases, where the goal is to convert toxic substances into more water-soluble compounds in order to make them easier to excrete via the kidneys, bowels, and skin. Pathway Liver Support and Detox features a targeted group of nutraceuticals (nutrients & botanical extracts) that help provide the liver with important cofactors for normal, healthy detoxification. It also encourages healthy bile flow, which encourages healthy elimination.

Here is what’s in it and how it can help:

Milk Thistle (standardized to to 80% Silymarin): Milk Thistle has been documented in several scientific studies to provide support to healthy liver cells. The liver is exposed to a wide range of toxins, and milk thistle helps support the health of the liver and also plays a role in supporting detoxification processes.

N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC): NAC serves as a precursor for the synthesis of glutathione in the liver. Glutathione is the body’s most powerful, naturally-made antioxidant, and it helps provide support for the liver and the entire body against toxic substances.

Selenium: SelenoExcell® brand selenium has been selected as the sole intervention agent in a series of cancer prevention (colon, lung and prostate) and health-related studies. Selenium is a component of the antioxidant enzyme system glutathione peroxidase and serves as an important antioxidant.

Choline: Choline serves as a source of methyl groups for methylation (process involved in liver detoxification), and provides a lipotropic effect to help support the removal of fat from the liver, which helps support healthy liver function.

Turmeric (standardized to 95% curcumin): Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant, and helps support liver detoxification processes.

Picrorhiza Kurroa: Picroliv® brand Picrorhiza Kurroa extract from Sabinsa, provides support for the activity of liver detoxification enzymes, and helps support normal, healthy glutathione levels.

Artichoke (standardized to 2% cynarin): Artichoke leaf extract has traditionally been used to help support healthy liver and gall bladder function.

Boldo Leaf Extract: Boldo extract helps support normal, healthy bile flow. Normal bile flow is critical to healthy fat digestion as well as detoxification, as bile serves as a vehicle by which the liver excretes toxins.

Burdock Root Extract and Dandelion Root Extract: Burdock and dandelion extracts are herbs traditionally known for their contribution to healthy liver function and detoxification.

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA): ALA is both a water-soluble and fat-soluble antioxidant. It helps regenerate other antioxidants such as vitamins C and E, and coenzyme Q10. Alpha lipoic acid has been studied for its effect on the support of healthy liver function by regenerating glutathione, the body’s most powerful natural antioxidant.

Yellow Dock: Yellow dock helps support healthy liver function and normal, healthy bile flow, which is important for the removal of toxins from the body.

B-vitamins: Folic acid, B12 and choline are methyl donors. All of these nutrients help contribute methyl groups necessary for methylation, a process which occurs in phase two of liver detoxification. This process makes toxins easier for the body to excrete via the bile, urine and skin.
