Natural Support for Prostate Health

Spread the love

prostate-healthSeptember is National Prostate Health Month. It came about to increase public awareness of the importance of prostate health, help provide easily accessible prostate health screenings, educate about risk factors and symptoms of prostate related diseases, and advocate for further research on prostate health issues.

Benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) is a very common condition that affects many men over the age of 40. Symptoms include increased urinary frequency, nighttime waking to empty the bladder, and a weak stream during urination.

Clinical studies show that extracts of saw palmetto, stinging nettle root and pumpkin seeds are important nutrients for supporting prostate health and reducing prostate enlargement. Pathway PROSTA PLUS is a comprehensive prostate formula that includes these herbs, as well as a combination of amino acids alanine, glycine, and glutamic acid. This formula addresses the hormonal changes and symptoms associated with BPH.

Vitamin D is also showing promising treatment for BPH. Research has found that vitamin D administration is effective in reducing prostate volume and also reducing risk of developing BPH. Vitamin D deficiency has been independently linked to a higher risk of BPH.

Diet and lifestyle are probably the most important factors for a healthy prostate. Research suggests that a diet low in animal fat, high in fiber, and high in vegetables can reduce the progression of BPH.

But the most important thing is to visit your doctor. Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in the United States and the American Cancer Society now recommends prostate exams for men starting at age 40, rather than at age 50.  So talk to your doctor and make your health a priority.
